The Most Expensive Mistake I’ve Ever Made…

At Plants Basically, we’re always striving to improve our formulas based on your feedback. We want our products to be as effective as possible, using only the highest-quality ingredients. That’s why we decided to enhance our Juicy Joint Formula by adding Boswellia gum resin, an ingredient known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and joint-supporting benefits.

But… let’s just say things didn’t go as planned. 🫠

A $55,000 Lesson in Formulation

We had the best intentions, but we learned the hard way that Boswellia doesn’t work well in liquid extracts. This ingredient tends to emulsify, which made the formula way too thick—so thick that the dropper wouldn’t work properly. The consistency was completely off, making it impossible to use as intended.

Unfortunately, we didn’t test this change beforehand because we had no idea it would be an issue—and our manufacturer didn’t warn us either. So, what seemed like a simple improvement turned into a $55,000 mistake. 💸

Why We Took the Loss (and Didn’t Cut Corners)

We had two options:

1️⃣ Water down the formula to salvage the batch and sell it anyway (which, let’s be real, most brands would’ve done).

2️⃣ Take the financial hit, scrap the batch, and do things the right way—even though it cost us big time.

For us, the choice was clear. We have integrity, and we would NEVER sell you something that doesn’t meet our standards. If it’s not the best, we won’t put our name on it. Period.

The Good News? It’s Officially FIXED! 🙌

We went back to the drawing board and removed the Boswellia. Now, we’re excited to share that our new batch of Juicy Joint Formula is here, and it’s back to the quality you know and love! 🎉

Lessons Learned

This experience taught us a few things:

✅ Always test ingredient changes—no matter how small.

✅ Never rush a formula, even if it means delays.

✅ Cutting corners is never an option when quality is on the line.
